Together with other international high school students attending our summer volunteer abroad program in Spain, you’ll be able to explore the winding, cobblestone streets of Cádiz, visit historic buildings and monuments, surf the Atlantic waves, and browse local markets under the bright Andalusian sun. In addition to boosting your Spanish skills and your college application, you’ll make lasting memories with new friends from all over the world!

From ancient architecture to 138 kilometers (85 miles) of golden-sand beaches, you will have countless opportunities for adventure right at your fingertips. With wonderful weather and highly walkable streets, you’ll be able to spend every day exploring the city, where you’ll pass lively plazas, breathtaking buildings, and charming local shops and markets. Cadiz Cathedral
This gorgeous cathedral features intricate baroque architecture, a majestic façade, and a bell tower from which you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding city.
Tavira Tower
Built in the 1700s, this historic lookout tower contains a camera obscura and provides you with even more stunning views of the city.
Castle of Santa Catalina
Originally a fortress that was constructed in the 17th century, this seaside castle now houses a modern art gallery.
The Port of Santa Maria
This small, historic town is situated on the banks of the Guadalete River, right outside the city of Cádiz, where you can visit San Marcos Castle, the bullring of El Puerto, the church of Iglesia Mayor Prioral, and the Victory Monastery.

Lending a Hand: Volunteer Experiences
- Serve a local community in Spain by volunteering with one or more of our partner organizations in and around the seaside city of Cádiz.
- Enjoy opportunities to work with diverse groups of people in a variety of settings, offering a range of different volunteer activities, such as:
- Assisting low-income families by preparing and serving meals, providing childcare, and painting houses;
- Spending time with elderly people with physical and mental disabilities; and
- Mentoring marginalized youth through English classes, tutoring sessions, arts and crafts activities, and sports games.
