The 5 best AP® Spanish resources for teachers

If you are an AP® Spanish teacher or a future AP® Spanish teacher, this article is for you!

After the successful article of Professor Ken Stewart 5 Tips to a 5 on the AP® Spanish Language and Culture Exam, Professor Laura Zinke will share with you her favorite AP® Spanish resources for teaching the AP® Spanish Language & Culture course.

#1 – Las Naciones Unidas

This website is a true hidden treasure. It is not only updated every day, but it also offers resources that we can work with to teach the different AP® Spanish Language and Culture themes. The link takes us to a portal. If we look at the drop-down menu entitled “Qué hacemos”, we recommend a careful reading of the section Días internacionales. It is an excellent opportunity to know the perspectives according to the theme and the day. Furthermore, UNESCO provides a large number of resources that AP® Spanish teachers can include and work with in class. Finally, the 17 Objetivos de desarrollo sostenible section provides more opportunities to work on the AP® Spanish themes.

#2 – CNN in Spanish

This website offers countless AP® Spanish resources for teachers. Every day, this website publishes the latest news from American newspapers. Also, we can find videos and podcasts, as well as the “opinión” section where we will find the cultural perspectives of people from Spanish-speaking countries and the United States. A great way to take advantage of these resources is to ask two students each week to analyze the “noticias de la semana”. Students can find information on a topic of interest and then share it with their classmates.

#3 – Radio Ambulante

This website – a Spanish version of NPR – provides a great variety of podcasts on different topics. We can access all the episodes or search for them through the indicated season. In the same way, if we filter the information using “Descubrir episodios“, this link will take you to a portal where you will have the opportunity to choose a country of interest, a topic, a season or the duration of each podcast.

#4 – BBC Mundo

This website offers excellent written and audio resources for AP® Spanish teachers. We recommend BBC Mundo which offers the possibility to focus on Latin American and International news. Also, we have the possibility to choose various topics, such as Economy, Health, Culture, Science and Technology. Videos have a special section too. This website is really worth exploring.

#5 – Prensaescrita

On this website, AP® Spanish teachers can have access to all the Spanish newspapers available digitally. They have the possibility to filter them by country. You can find the most notable newspapers on the homepage, on the left hand side. Again, it is an excellent resource to work on the different AP® Spanish Language and Culture themes.

We hope these AP® Spanish resources will be helpful to support your instruction!
