Participant Rules
High School Students

1. Exchange Students must be in good standing with their home schools and also abide by the MundoLengua program rules during the Program.

 

2. Exchange Students must obey all local and national laws.

 

3. Exchange Students are prohibited from bullying (real or virtual). Exchange Students are also prohibited from making any type of threats against other students or staff. MundoLengua has a zero-tolerance policy related to discrimination of any kind.

 

4. Exchange Students are expected to maintain a standard of behavior commensurate with life in a host family / other accommodation that they share with others. Excessive noise, destruction of property, or other anti-social behavior is forbidden. Exchange Students are responsible for the replacement of locks if keys are lost or stolen. Exchange Students are prohibited from bringing their pets with them during the Program. Exchange Students are responsible for the replacement of locks if keys are lost or stolen. Exchange Students are also responsible for the replacement of damaged household or other property.

 

5. Exchange Students will not discuss their host family´s private affairs with anyone other than a MundoLengua representative or chaperone.

 

6. Exchange Students cannot change their host family without permission from a MundoLengua representative.

 

7. Exchange Students are prohibited from smoking, juuling, or vaping. Any Exchange Student found in violation of this rule may face consequences up to and including expulsion from the Program, as determined in collaboration between MundoLengua and the Exchange Student’s home school (if applicable).

 

8. Exchange Students will not drive cars, motorcycles, or scooters of any sort at any time during the Program. Exchange Students may rent out standard city bikes if MundoLengua receives written permission from their parents or legal guardians.

 

9. Exchange Students are not permitted to travel outside the local area either alone or with other students. Overnight travel is permitted only with the approved group.

 

10. Hitchhiking or soliciting a ride from a stranger is prohibited.

 

11. Exchange Students may not enter into any kind of contractual arrangement, be it business, religious, or marital during the Program.

 

12. Exchange Students will not make any permanent or drastic changes in their  personal appearance while on the Program without MundoLengua receiving prior written consent from their parents or legal guardian. Examples include body piercings, tattoos, or dramatic and unconventional hair dyes.

 

13. Exchange Students must take responsibility for all personal property. MundoLengua cannot be held responsible for any personal property that is lost or stolen, unless such losses were due to negligence on the part of MundoLengua.

 

14. Exchange Students are expected to abide by the curfew set by MundoLengua. Failure to do so may result in the forfeiture of free time at night, as determined in collaboration between MundoLengua and the Exchange Student’s home school (if applicable). Depending on the agreement between MundoLengua and each Exchange Student´s home school, this curfew may vary.

 

15. Exchange Students hereby agree not to purchase, possess, or consume alcohol or associate with any student who does. Depending on the severity of the infraction of any part of this rule as determined in collaboration between MundoLengua and the Exchange Student’s home school (if applicable), an Exchange Student may face immediate expulsion from the Program. Said expulsion will be made known to the Exchange Student both verbally and in writing. At the very least, Exchange Students found in violation of any part of this rule will forfeit their right to participate in certain parts of the Program as determined in collaboration between MundoLengua and the Exchange Student’s home school, if applicable (this might include afternoon activities, nighttime activities, weekend excursions, etc.) The Exchange Student will also forfeit their right to any refund of monies for unused parts of the Program. Exchange Students who are expelled from the Program will be sent home at their own expense. It is the Exchange Student´s responsibility to arrange supervision for their return home. MundoLengua can provide assistance, under the condition that the Exchange Student pay any and all associated costs in advance resulting from said expulsion and return home. These costs will be made known in writing to the Exchange Student as soon as reasonably possible.

 

16. Use, sale, or possession of illegal drugs by an Exchange Student, or association with anyone involved with the use, sale, or possession of illegal drugs, will result in said Exchange Student being immediately expelled from the Program and sent back to their home country, without recourse and at their expense. Said expulsion will be made known to the Exchange Student both verbally and in writing. The Exchange Student will also forfeit their right to any refund of monies for unused parts of the Program. It is the Exchange Student´s responsibility to arrange supervision for their return home. MundoLengua can provide assistance, under the condition that the Exchange Student pay any and all associated costs in advance resulting from said expulsion and return home.
